Biography

Rep. Thomas J. Calter is a lifelong Democrat
who proudly serves the constituents of the
12th Plymouth District. He is 49 years old and
has been married to Patty for 28 years.
Together, they have raised three adult
children. Ryan 26, Kerri 24 and Patrick 21
years old. The Calter Family has called
Kingston home for 19 years.

Tom is the 4th of 6 children raised in Avon,
Massachusetts by Tom and Kay Calter. Tom's
mother and father were active leaders in the
Democratic Party and in their community.
Tom’s dad was a Union Carpenter and his
mom a cook in a residential half-way house.

Tom worked in the Environmental Service
Industry for more than 30 years. Starting as a
laborer at a rate of $2.50/hour, he cleaned oil
tanks, responded to oil spills and remediated
hazardous waste sites, often under difficult
and dangerous conditions. Tom put himself
through North Adams State College and
graduated a semester early in 1980. He
began his career in business management.
During his career and before begining the
legislature, Tom has served as the Senior VP
of a publicly traded Company, CEO of the
fastest privately held environmental service
company in New England and Senior Partner
of RKP Capital Services, a business
consulting firm he founded in 2001.
Throughout his professional career, Tom has
created hundreds of jobs, mentored dozens
of young professionals, met weekly payrolls,
acquired and rebuilt struggling organizations.
Proudly, he founded one of the first
environmental union companies in
Massachusetts. Along the way, Tom earned a
Masters Degree in Business Administration
from Northeastern University in 1989.

Tom has been active in Kingston Town
government for many years. He has served
as the Vice-Chairman of the Kingston Finance
Committee and member of the Silver Lake
Regional School Committee. In addition, he
is a member of the Kingston Rent Control
Board, the South Shore Chamber of
Commerce, Plymouth Chamber of
Commerce and Jones River Watershed
Association and the American Legion

issues that we all face together and honored t
to serve the towns of Duxbury, Halifax,
Kingston, Middleboro, Plymouth and
Plympton.
